Paradise

from Clouds by Kars Landman

/

about

Like 'Leaving', the initial idea of this song was made on an iPad in the summer of 2017. The whole song was built on the intro melody, and I love how it turned out. Some of my favourite chord structures are in this song. The addition of real violin elevates this song a lot more than you'd think.

lyrics

Open up the door
Let the sun in
Sparks flying through the room
Burn my eyes while dreams take over

“Let me lead you above paradise”
I thought I heard her speak
“Where the streams turn into waterfalls
And you can gently fall asleep

You can just lay down your life here
You’re safe with me, at home
The smoke is rising from the trees
No need for you to care”

Let me see into your eyes
And tell me where we go
Let me lose forever here

There’s no way I’ll understand you
But I’ll be here till the end of my days
Always floating onto nothing

(There’s no way I’ll leave you)

You grab me, throw me in
Out of nowhere
Up and out and back again
Why the hell would you leave the light on?

“Let me lead you above paradise”
I always hear her speak
Does this stream become a waterfall?
If I still have hard times falling asleep

Tossing
Turning
I can’t see you

Tossing
Turning
Where’d you go?

Tossing
Turning
You are nowhere

Tossing
Turning
I am
Nowhere
But my mind is everywhere
These faces of you
I cannot confirm
And nothing is ever real to me

I’m nowhere
But I’m not headed out of here
These faces of you
They’re everywhere
But none of them are ever real to me

Let me see into your eyes
Show me what I won’t find
Can I really trust you?

Let me see into your eyes
And tell me where we go
Let me lose forever here

There’s no way I’ll understand you
But I’ll be here till the end of my days
I’ll keep dreaming of a change here
